Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an experienced engineering leader to design and evaluate projects ranging from new design/build to rehabilitation of facilities. The role provides technical guidance and resolves issues across HVAC and plumbing systems while coordinating with project teams.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license, has 8+ years of lead experience, and can communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• PE License required.
• 8+ years of experience, including lead experience.
• Excellent knowledge of HVAC and plumbing system design.
• Ability to read complex mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with all levels of employees, clients and general contractors.
• Strong public speaking/presentation skills.
• Excellent computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office Products, including Excel.

• Provides conceptual design for specific projects.
• Serves as design professional at project team design meetings.
• Prepares complex preliminary redline design layouts for estimating.
• Performs more complex calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, friction loss calculations, hydraulic calculations, etc.
• Performs site inspections to determine compliance with construction documents and resolves design issues during construction phase.
• Supervises less-experienced engineers in performing HVAC or other system design and documents production of small and large projects.

Pay

Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For California, this ranges from $120,000.00-$135,000.00 yearly plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
