Job summary

Stryker Corporation in Portage, MI is seeking a Design Engineer – Mechanical to support Stryker Medical’s Acute Care business unit. This on-site role focuses on production support, sustaining engineering and line extensions.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Materials, and Marketing to deliver robust designs, create design history files, and participate in design controls and risk management.

  • Experience with design and concept generation; engineering analysis using CAD/CAE tools; Creo preferred.

Work Flexibility: Onsite Stryker is seeking to hire a Design Engineer to support Stryker Medical’s Acute Care Business Unit. This role is focused on product/sustaining engineering. What you will do

The Design Engineer – Mechanical works with Manufacturing, Customer and Operations Quality, Materials, Regulatory Affairs, Content Management, Clinical Sciences, and Marketing teams to ensure project success.

  • Working on problems for production support, quality improvements, and line extensions.
  • Conducting and supporting problem‑solving efforts, root cause analysis, and identification and evaluation of potential solutions.
  • Demonstrating ownership and integrity of work, a spirit of volunteerism, a passion for excellence and our products, and a hands‑on approach to engineering.
  • Interpreting and understanding the product’s intended use, clinical procedures, customer needs and design inputs.
  • Creating and/or refining engineering documentation, such as the Design History File and the Device Master Record.
  • Following, learning, and contributing to R&D procedures, such as design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.
  • Assisting prototyping efforts and bench testing.
What you need
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 0-2 Years of experience.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering practices and design principles.
  • Working knowledge of design and concept generation, and engineering analysis utilizing CAD and CAE tools, Creo Preferred.
  • Working knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods.

USN: $69,500 - $110,900 USD Annual Travel Percentage: 10%

Work Flexibility

Remote – Role allows you to work the majority to 100% of time from an alternate workplace. These roles could have travel expectations, and you must work within the country of the job requisition location.

Field-based – You can expect to regularly work a majority to 100% of time at customer facilities and has a set territory or expectation to travel within a set boundary. Almost all sales roles would likely be qualified as field-based.

Onsite – Role is 100% located at a Stryker facility. Some ad hoc flexibility may be available depending on role, level, and job requirements. Manufacturing roles and any role that requires physical presence at the office would qualify under this category.

Hybrid – You can expect to regularly work in both an alternate workplace and a Stryker facility. Roles that are partially remote or co‑located would qualify as hybrid, and the expectation to be onsite would be defined and agreed upon by your manager/supervisor.
