Digitailor seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and prototype mobility devices. You will analyze complex mechanical systems, create and update 3D models and drawings, and ensure designs are safe, manufacturable and cost-efficient.

The role requires collaboration across departments, adherence to timelines, and experience with GD&T and FEA tools. Domestic and international travel is possible.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent with required experience.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and 3D modeling; familiarity with industry standards.
• Experience with SolidWorks or Creo and PLM/PDM systems desirable.
• Hands-on experience in machining, welding, fabrication is a plus.

$67,670 DESCRIPTION/JOB SUMMARY Collaborating as part of a team responsible for designing, prototyping, testing, and assembling new mobility devices and improving existing products in accordance with the company’s procedures and protocols RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

• Design and analyze complex mechanical systems including but not limited to high load structural systems, suspension systems, vehicle chassis, actuator driven linkages, and linear motion systems
• Develop, release, and revise mechanical drawings and 3D models
• Ensure designs are safe, effective, manufacturable, reliable and Superior Product at Reduced Cost (SPARC) initiatives are met
• Perform component inspections as well as system verification and validation testing
• Meet and fulfill project timelines and budgets
• Facilitate general project collaboration and open communication between various internal departments
• Assist in continuous improvement of design procedure and protocol to help drive design efficiency
• Travel to domestic and international contract manufacturers as needed for product launches
• Lead by example and assist in the training and development of Junior Design Engineers and Engineering Interns
• Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management
• Complete annual CTPAT Security Training
• Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment
• Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations

• Intermediate understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); OR certificate of completion in GD&T Training Course
• Basic working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulation
• Basic working knowledge of various manufacturing methods and their respective effects on component design
• Basic working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Product Data Management (PDM) systems
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• PREFERRED SKILLS
• Strong working knowledge of 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or Creo preferred
• Intermediate working knowledge of FEA and simulation preferred
• Intermediate working knowledge of PLM or PDM systems preferred
• Basic working knowledge of composite materials, including fiber reinforcement, resin systems, laminate construction, and common manufacturing processes preferred
• Basic understanding of Lean Principles preferred
• Lift/Push/Pull 40 lbs. preferred
• REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
• At least 1 year of experience as a Junior Design Engineer at Pride Mobility Products Corporation, OR at least 3 years of experience in designing mechanical systems and assemblies including 3D solid modeling of mechanical components and assemblies along with creating, reading, and comprehending 2D detail drawings PREFFERRED EXPERIENCE
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with machining, welding and fabrication of mechanical assemblies preferred
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in the design, manufacturing and assembly of fabricated mechanical structures preferred
• At least 1 year of experience in the application of GD&T preferred
• At least 1 year of experience in the design, manufacturing, or testing of composite materials and structures, including carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) preferred
• At least 1 year of experience with the specific products preferred
• Current or previous successful employment experience with Pride Mobility Products Corporation preferred
• REQUIRED EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, OR Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 6 years of the required experience PREFERRED EDUCATION
• Master’s Degree in a related Engineering field preferred
• REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
