Job summary

Goken in Dublin, Ohio, is seeking an engineer to support engineering design and development activities for large-scale product programs. You will lead and support engineering efforts, create 3-D models and 2-D drawings, and prepare part specifications and BOMs.

You will analyze complex problems, coordinate with internal teams and suppliers, perform cost analysis, material selection, and strive to improve products and processes. Travel to client sites is required.

Qualifications

  • DFMEA and GD&T knowledge required for design validation and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience with DFMEA, GD&T, and DFM to improve manufacturability.
  • Proficient in CATIA V5/V6 for 3-D modeling and 2-D drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support engineering activities for large scale product development programs.
  • Investigate feasibility, create 3-D models and 2-D drawings, and review layouts.
  • Create part specifications and BOMs, and negotiate with suppliers.
  • Perform cost analysis, strength calculations, and material selection.
  • Apply best practices to improve products and processes.
  • Seek ways to increase efficiency and reduce design costs.
  • Travel to client sites as required.

Summary:

This role will support engineering design and development activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the engineering activities for large scale product development programs by investigating feasibility, performing design using 3-D modeling software, conduct layout review and 2D drawing creation.
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems independently or with minimal guidance.
  • Create part specification requirements and BOM.
  • Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers.
  • Perform cost analysis, strength calculations and material selection.
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve product and/or processes.
  • Search new ways to increase overall efficiency, utilize up-to-date technology, and reduce design and parts costs
  • Travel to client sites required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2-5 years relevant industry experience or Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years relevant industry experience or Associate’s degree and 5+ years Automotive Plastic design experience.
  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and working experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
  • Experience using both Catia V5/V6 to create 3-D models and 2D drawings is required.
  • The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including essential technical guidance to support Senior Management
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and tooling
  • Exposure to CAE preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office.
