Job summary

Steffes in Dickinson, ND seeks an engineer to design, develop, and analyze products and systems, ensuring quality and cost targets are met. You will collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing, manage engineering changes, and prepare BOMs.

You will conduct testing, mentor junior staff, and help identify new product opportunities while upholding Steffes core values and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent.
• Intermediate computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet).
• Microsoft Word – Advanced
• Microsoft Excel – Advanced
• Microsoft PowerPoint – Intermediate
• Microsoft Outlook - Basic
• AutoCAD (2D) and/or CAD (3D) experience preferred (PTC Creo, SolidWorks)

Responsibilities

• Design, development, implementation, and analysis of products and systems.
• Document and maintain product testing findings against criteria.
• Prepare estimates of development costs and bill of materials.
• Manage engineering changes.
• Assist in supplier site inspections to assess supplier quality and delivery.
• Establish and maintain QA procedures for testing, purchasing, and receiving.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to resolve production issues.
• Assist with sales and technical field calls, troubleshooting, warranties, and servicing.
• Lead the implementation of FMEA’s, as needed.
• Lead projects.
• Assist in identifying and assessing new product opportunities.
• Mentor new employees.
• Maintain a positive, collaborative work atmosphere with customers, suppliers, coworkers, and management.
• Help meet Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

1. Responsibilities include the design, development, implementation, and analysis of products and systems.
2. Responsible for documenting and maintaining findings of product testing against established criteria to ensure all new and existing product materials are within requirements.

7. Works closely with manufacturing engineers to resolve manufacturing issues.
8. Assists in handling sales and technical field calls, trouble shooting, warranties, and servicing, as needed.
9. Leads the implementation of FMEA’s, as needed.
10. Leads Projects.
11. Assists in finding and assessing new product opportunities.
12. Assist in mentoring new employees.
13. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in collaborative manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline or equivalent, and/or qualified years of experience.
• Intermediate computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet, etc.).

• Microsoft PowerPoint – Intermediate
• Microsoft Outlook - Basic
• Intermediate 2D (AutoCAD) and/or 3D CAD (PTC Creo, Solidworks) experience preferred.

Functional & Cognitive Requirements

• This position requires walking, sitting, or standing to a significant degree.
• Must have the ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 20 pounds.
• Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.
• Stooping, crouching, kneeling, and bending.
• Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.
• Visual acuity is required to inspect work completed.
• This role may be subject to internal and external environmental conditions.
