Van Cleef Engineering Associates, LLC seeks a Design Engineer for our Hamilton, NJ office with municipal and private/land development experience. You will design site grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater systems, and assist with NJDEP permit applications.

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office is required, along with strong communication and collaborative skills. This role offers growth, competitive benefits, and a stable, local team environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.
• EIT certification preferred
• 4-5 years of experience in Municipal and Private/Land Development engineering
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Prepare or assist with the design of site grading, drainage, utilities, soil erosion/sediment control measures, and stormwater management systems
• Prepare or assist with the preparation of NJDEP and other agency permit applications related to wetlands, flood hazard areas and stormwater management
• Knowledge of local Municipal Land Use Ordinances to be used to assist with the review of site plans, subdivision plans, plot plans and stormwater management plans
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D design tools to prepare engineering designs and calculations
• Prepare engineering reports to support various design elements of projects
• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare construction cost estimates
• Prepare or assist with the preparations of specifications for public bidding based upon the NJ Local Public Contracts Law and the NJ Local Public Schools Contract Law
• Engage in regular communication with project managers and other team members in regard to the status and progress of assigned tasks
