Do you have material handling design experience within a heavy equipment manufacturing environment? We are looking for an experienced Material Handling Design Engineer to join our growing team in Fort Payne, AL. The Material Handling Design Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing material handling systems to move truck bodies and other materials within the manufacturing plant. Utilizing your knowledge of various types of conveyor systems, automated storage and retrieval systems, robotics, ergo lift or operator lift assist tools and other material handling equipment like lift and carry, lift and roll, lift and slide M/H systems to optimize material flow and minimize costs you will conduct feasibility studies, create detailed system layouts, select appropriate equipment, coordinate installation, and ensure proper functionality through testing and troubleshooting.
To be successful in this role, you must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have a desire to work in a hands-on environment supporting the shop floor, Process MEs, Launch MEs, tool room and operations management. You must have the ability to work with a manufacturing engineering mindset with the ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings and ability to use AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Experience in any or all of the following is strongly : New Product Development (NPD), Electric Vehicles, flow manufacturing, metal fabrication processes, welding, assembly methodologies or paint systems. Six Sigma green or black belt certification but not required.
