Job summary

Wallace Montgomery is seeking a Water Resources engineer with at least 5 years of professional experience to work in our Fairfax or Richmond, Virginia office. This role provides opportunities for personal and professional growth while collaborating with cross-functional teams on complex projects.

The Design Engineer III will mentor junior engineers, prepare design reports, contract drawings and estimates, and participate in public meetings as needed. VA licensure is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in civil engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer license required (VA preferred).
• 5–10 years of professional experience in water resources.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering design, studies and reports.
• Determine and review appropriate technical methods and verify criteria.
• Develop design details, specifications, contract drawings and estimates.
• Prepare construction contract documents with final design details and drawings.

The Design Engineer III will work on complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.Primary Functions:Prepare engineering design, studies and reports.Determine / reviews appropriate application of technical methods of the work and verify compliance with criteria.Participate / Reviews the development of engineering design details, specifications, contract drawings and estimates.Prepare construction contract documents including final design details, construction drawings, specifications and estimates.Participate in presentations such as public meetings.Monitor current design trends/methodologies related to their area of expertise.Assist in training new employees in using CADD software.Client contact on a limited basis.Field work as team member for inspections and research for projects.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldProfessional Engineering License required (VA preferred)5-10 years' experienceVDOT experience preferred.
