Job summary

Wallace Montgomery is seeking a Design Engineer III to work on highways/roadway projects in our Newark or Dover, Delaware offices. You will design, supervise and deliver high-quality solutions on complex projects, mentoring junior staff as needed.

The position requires a Civil Engineering degree, PE license preferred in DE, and 5–10 years of professional experience. DelDOT background is a plus, with collaboration across cross-functional teams and field work as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer license preferred (DE preferred).
• 5-10 years' experience in civil engineering projects.
• DelDOT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering design, studies and reports.
• Determine/review appropriate application of technical methods of the work and verify compliance with criteria.
• Participate/review development of engineering design details, specifications, contract drawings and estimates.
• Prepare construction contract documents including final design details, construction drawings, specifications and estimates.
• Participate in presentations such as public meetings.
• Monitor current design trends/methodologies related to their area of expertise.
• Assist in training new employees in using CADD software.
• Client contact on a limited basis.
• Field work as team member for inspections and research for projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

This individual will be exposed to a variety of project types, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. The Design Engineer III will work on complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
