Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC in Fullerton, California is seeking a Design Engineer II - Water Resources to contribute to civil site improvements and water distribution projects. You will perform design work, prepare reports, and support project teams under project managers.

The role requires 2+ years in civil engineering, proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D and GIS tools, and excellent communication skills. This is a full-time on-site position offering growth and diverse project exposure.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in civil engineering or related field.
  • ABET‑accredited engineering degree or 4+ years AE industry experience.
  • EIT/FE (or 4+ years AE experience).
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, etc.).
  • Abilities in ESRI ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, or related geospatial software.
  • Proficient in PDF software, such as Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Ability to grasp and become proficient in new software and technologies.
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic.
  • Good interpersonal abilities for working in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and take direction.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare project concepts through final design plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&A) bid packages.
  • Solve design problems using engineering calculations and following general design standards.
  • Prepare complete engineering reports related to civil site improvements, storm drainage, water distribution and transmission systems, pumping systems, pipelines, utilities, streets and roadways, bikeways, sanitary sewer collection systems, and water and wastewater facilities.
  • Prepare and/or support reports and technical writing related to engineering projects, proposals, grants and other initiatives.
  • Prepare project drawings/designs in AutoCAD Civil3D software.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil3D to establish horizontal and vertical alignments, profiles, cross sections, and perform earthwork calculations.
  • Serve on project teams under the supervision of CWE Project Managers.
  • Complete assignments on time and within budget and achieve firm’s quality objectives.
  • Interact with public and private clients and stakeholders.
  • Interact with multi‑discipline and multi‑office teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program or other bachelor’s degree with 4+ years’ Architect‑Engineering (AE) industry experience.

  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, etc.).

Pay Range

$82,000 – $110,000 USD
