Job summary

MEPPI's Critical Power Solutions Division seeks a design engineer to oversee preparation of technical documents, coordinate design with teams, and lead testing for UPS systems and batteries. The role requires a portable mix of hands-on lab work and supplier coordination.

The ideal candidate will bring a Bachelor's in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, strong problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple projects with precision and clear customer communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience in power electronics and energy systems including converters and inverters.
  • Experience measuring testing and troubleshooting of high power equipment.
  • Ability to read understand and create technical drawings and material.
  • Analytical problem solving and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced computer skills with CAD and engineering analysis software.

Job description

Provide all design engineering drawings and documents as related to customer orders support manufacturing efforts and provide customer support on all products of the Critical Power Solutions Division CPSD

Essential Functions
  • Oversee the preparation of all technical documents ex drawings purchasing specifications Bills of Materials BOMs Instruction Book IBs etc required to support order placements manufacturingassembly operations and customer needs
  • Prepare design direction and clarification as required to other Engineering personnel
  • Seek and resolve of all customer technical questions as required
  • Write test scripts for and perform testing of uninterruptible supply systems and batteries in MEPPIs power labDevelop product BOMs and design drawings to support customers technical requirements and coordinate design with production purchasing quality personnel
  • Coordinate outside design efforts of other design teams consistent with Division products and goals
  • Develop and design concepts and work with other Engineering personnel to complete designs as required
  • Assist Manufacturing Purchasing and Quality Assurance with any production problems
  • Recommend and implement design improvements and cost reductions
  • Act as project leader for all design test and prototype programs as assigned
  • Coordinate all prototype efforts with others as needed
  • Work with vendors to resolve any technical design issues
  • Travel to customers site andor trade shows to provide product support as required
  • Develop and design US components to replace imported components
  • Prepare instruction books and renewal parts lists
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum 3 years of experience in a design engineering capacity or equivalent education and experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of power electronics and power and energy systems including converters and invertors
  • Experience with performing measurement testing and troubleshooting of high power equipment in laboratory or field environments
  • Experience with reading understanding and creating technical drawings and material
  • Intermediate analytical and problem solving skills
  • Intermediate interpersonal communication and presentation skills required to communicate with customers employees and vendors
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products CAD and engineering analysis software
