Job summary

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or related field; relevant experience may be considered.
  • 3–5 years in aerospace design and manufacturing environment.
  • Blueprint reading, GD&T, tolerance analysis.
  • PLM systems experience (Enovia/TeamCenter/Windchill).
  • Experience with hydraulic valves and components; FAA/AS9100 knowledge.
  • Ability to interpret test data and perform engineering analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop aerospace mechanical, fuel, pneumatic, and hydraulic components including valves and manifolds.
  • Create detailed CAD drawings and specifications using CAD software.
  • Perform structural, thermal, and fluids analyses to meet performance and safety requirements.
  • Prepare aerospace standard documentation (CDRL) for qualification of new designs.

  • Support customer communications from concept to early production.

Job description

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for designing and developing innovative and efficient solutions for aerospace systems. You will work closely, taking initiative at times, with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration and performance of these components in aerospace applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop mechanical, fuel, pneumatic, and hydraulic aerospace components including but not limited to valves, filters, manifolds, and related components.
  • Design and develop electrically actuated devices and energetic materials (CAD-PAD).
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to understand the requirements and constraints of the aerospace systems.
  • Authors aerospace standard documentation aligned with customer documents requirements lists (CDRL) in support of qualification of new designs.
  • Support the development of new opportunities through effective customer communication from initial concept to early production.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications using computer aided design (CAD) software.
  • Analyzes failures during qualification testing and supports RCCA.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and productions teams to ensure the manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of the designed components.
  • Perform structural, thermal, and fluids analysis to ensure the components meet the required performance and safety standards required for flight.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical support to resolve any issues or challenges during the development process.
  • Adhere to industry regulations, quality standards, and best practices through the design and development process.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in aerospace technology and industry trends to incorporate innovative solutions in component design.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source and evaluate materials, components, and equipment for the design and manufacturing process.
QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED
  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S) in Engineering, or related degree; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years in Aerospace design and manufacturing environment.
  • Blueprint reading, GD&T, Tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Intermediate understanding of machining and machine shop practices
  • Knowledge of Aerospace and Military standards
  • Experience with production assembly and test
  • Interpreting test data for accuracy and validity of conclusions
  • Experience with creating customer documents (SDRL)
  • Follows company standards and procedures
  • Product lifecycle management (PLM) using Enovia, TeamCenter, or Windchill
  • Hands-on design experience in mechanical, electromechanical and hydraulic components
  • Intermediate understanding of materials and processing specs
  • Experience in hydraulic valves and components
  • Intermediate understanding of hydraulic schematics
  • Understands Fluid flow and has strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Ability to prepare proposals for new products
  • Experience creating part and assembly drawings and part lists
  • Experience in scientific analysis of products by performing Engineering calculations and analysis to support Qualification by Similarity, Analysis, and Failure Analysis
  • Basic understanding of stress analysis and FEA
  • Proficient with production and test documents, ATP, QTP, QTR
  • Proficient with the tests in qualification standards MIL-STD-810 and DO-160
  • Proficient with hydraulics specifications
  • Proficient with industry standards and regulations, such as FAA regulations and AS9100 quality management system.
PREFERRED
  • CAD experience
  • Experience using SolidWorks
  • Experience with hydraulic and energetic components
  • Experience reviewing customer specs and extracting performance requirements to create Requirements Matrix and Source Control Drawings for subcomponents
  • Analytical experience in thermal, stress, flow, and/or system modeling
