Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced IT/ICT/Building Security Systems Designer to provide consulting and design services for IT infrastructure, structured cabling, and security systems in major renovations and new constructions. This role involves developing building security systems, producing construction drawings, and collaborating with project stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of telecom/IT/security design experience and proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BlueBeam. The position is primarily located in Newark, NJ.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of telecom/IT/security design experience in new builds or renovations.
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure and systems architecture is a must.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, BlueBeam, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop building security systems including CCTV, access control, and emergency systems.
• Produce construction drawings, specifications, and cost analyses.
• Collaborate with MEP/architectural teams and guide client decisions.

The IT/ICT/Building Security Systems Designer will deliver consulting and design services for IT infrastructure, structured cabling, and security systems—primarily supporting major renovations and some new construction in airports and transportation facilities. This role manages multiple projects while ensuring quality, accuracy, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop building security systems (CCTV, access control, intrusion, emergency systems)
• Produce construction drawings, specs, and cost analyses (AutoCAD, Revit, BlueBeam)
• Collaborate with MEP/architectural teams and guide client technology decisions
• Review submittals, coordinate with project stakeholders, and conduct site walk-throughs
• Ensure projects meet timelines, budgets, and NV5 quality standards
• Stay current on emerging technologies and industry standards

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of telecom/IT/security design experience (new builds or renovations)
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure and systems architecture
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BlueBeam, and Microsoft Office
• Strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to travel to job sites as needed

Preferred:

• BICSI (RCDD or similar), ASIS, PE, or other certifications
• Experience with network systems design, tech master planning, or business development
