Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Design Engineer I to bring engineering designs to life on design-build and design-assist projects in healthcare, education, biotech, mission critical, commercial and entertainment markets. You’ll collaborate with model coordinators, estimators and trade staff to produce practical, efficient designs, while leveraging VDC and CFD tools and field feedback to improve outcomes.

Eligibility includes a four-year degree; PE license preferred; Washington state pay ranges

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of HVAC/plumbing design.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in CADD and MS Office (Excel).
• Four-year degree; PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Produce basic HVAC calculations, loads, equipment sizing.
• Prepare drawings and specifications under supervision.
• Coordinate design with project management, architects and other trades.
• Perform and check CADD drafting work.
