Job summary

Vermeer in Iowa is seeking an engineer to research, design, build, and test equipment for construction and agriculture. You will analyze data, create CAD models, and produce prototype parts using SolidWorks, PDMWorks, and ECN tools.

You will work in a team to meet goals and test design changes to enhance machine performance and reliability. Occasional travel may be required on an onsite Vermeer campus.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture, or Electrical Engineering.
• Ability to identify root causes of component failures.
• Knowledge in FEA, hydraulics, electronics, engine systems, statistics, strength of materials, durability, and serviceability.
• Ability to create robust design and recognize design commonality.
• Ability to operate basic mechanical tools and wrenches, drill press, lathe, band saw, and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Understand engineering principals to analyze data and/or develop CAD models to optimize design opportunities.
• Apply engineering principles to invent, design, document, build and test new solutions for assigned industry using CAD tools.
• Use SolidWorks, PDMWorks, ECN tools and other design tools to produce prototype parts.
• Work in a team environment to meet team goals and metrics.
• Test design changes to improve machine performance and reliability.
• Build relationships to successfully execute on projects and to grow in knowledge of the Vermeer engineering functions.
