CertainTeed, a Saint-Gobain brand, seeks a Design Engineer I to support the design, development, and execution of custom architectural wood ceiling and specialty product solutions for commercial projects. Under guidance of senior engineers, you translate customer requirements and drawings into detailed engineering and manufacturing documents.

You will apply engineering principles and drafting expertise to develop accurate designs that meet customer expectations, manufacturing capabilities,

Qualifications

Associate degree required; Bachelor's preferred.
1–3 years engineering/drafting/manufacturing/technical experience required.
Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software; ability to read drawings.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and execute custom architectural wood ceiling and specialty product solutions.
Convert customer requirements and architectural drawings into detailed documents.
Support project delivery and act as a technical resource for internal teams and customers.

The Design Engineer I supports the design, development, and execution of custom architectural wood ceiling and specialty product solutions for commercial construction projects. Working under the guidance of senior engineering and design personnel, the incumbent converts customer requirements, specifications, and architectural drawings into detailed engineering and manufacturing documents that support successful project delivery. This position applies engineering principles, drafting expertise, and product knowledge to develop accurate design solutions that meet customer expectations, manufacturing capabilities, quality standards, and project schedules. The role serves as a technical resource for internal stakeholders and customers while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and new product development activities.

Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, or related discipline is required. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or related technical field - Preferred
1-3 years of engineering, drafting, manufacturing, construction, or related technical experience - Required
Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD, software. Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings - Required
Architectural wood products, millwork, specialty ceilings, or commercial construction experience - Preferred
CNC programming experience. Exposure to manufacturing environments - Preferred
