Job summary

ENTRUST Solutions Group, a Leidos company, seeks an engineer/new grad to gain hands-on project experience in electrical distribution design for residential and commercial utility projects. You will work with industry experts, develop technical skills, and contribute to designs that support safe, reliable electrical service.

The role emphasizes collaboration, adherence to codes (RUS, NESC), and growth within a company focused on professional development and infrastructure modernization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) from an ABET‑accredited university.
  • Client‑facing experience and strong communication skills.
  • Hands‑on CAD or MicroStation experience.
  • 1–3 years of electric distribution design experience, preferably with a utility or engineering consulting firm.

  • Work on electric distribution system designs for subdivisions, apartment complexes, mixed‑use developments, and other utility projects.
  • Apply technical knowledge to engineering designs, ensuring adherence to project specifications, scope, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with Designers and Drafters to complete design packages.
  • Support the preparation of simple designs or portions of larger projects, including calculations, drawings, and analysis.
  • Gain hands‑on experience with CAD programs and engineering analysis tools (e.g., DDS, PoleForeman, O‑Calc).
  • Lead design development for smaller or less complex projects and support senior engineers on technically advanced projects.

Job description

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer/new grad eager to gain hands‑on project experience, collaborate with industry experts, and grow within a company that prioritizes professional development. You’ll work on meaningful utility projects, develop technical skills, and contribute to designs that support safe, reliable electrical service for residential and commercial customers.

What You’ll Do
  • Work on electric distribution system designs for subdivisions, apartment complexes, mixed‑use developments, and other utility projects.
  • Apply technical knowledge to engineering designs, ensuring adherence to project specifications, scope, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Designers and Drafters to complete design packages.
  • Support the preparation of simple designs or portions of larger projects, including calculations, drawings, and analysis.
  • Gain hands‑on experience with CAD programs and engineering analysis tools (e.g., DDS, PoleForeman, O‑Calc).
  • Lead design development for smaller or less complex projects and support senior engineers on technically advanced projects.
  • Apply industry codes and standards, including RUS, NESC, and utility‑specific guidelines.
  • Communicate challenges related to scope, cost, schedule, or quality clearly and professionally.
  • Identify information that should be communicated to clients and stakeholders through team leads and project managers.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned, including fielding work or project documentation as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) from an ABET‑accredited university.
  • Client‑facing experience and strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience with CAD or MicroStation.
  • Background in utility design or distribution engineering. 1–3 years of electric distribution design experience, preferably with a utility or engineering consulting firm.
  • Foundational experience in utility distribution network design, overhead/underground layouts, pole line design, transformer sizing, and service planning.
  • Knowledge of electric distribution design software such as DDS, PoleForeman, and O‑Calc.

The base salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $80,000 annually. The specific amount within this range will be influenced by the work location and various factors, such as internal equity, professional skills, work experience, and pertinent education or training.

Benefits offered include company sponsored medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plan with company match. Also offered are tuition reimbursement, voluntary life, disability, critical illness, accident and hospitalization plans. HSA or FSA medical accounts and FSA dependent care and transportation/parking accounts are also available. Full time employees are eligible to earn PTO hours.
