Seeking a Senior Design Engineer who can work with a dynamic team of engineers, administrators, and technicians responsible for design, implementation, operations & maintenance, and cybersecurity for large, complex electronic and physical security systems. This position leads technical design efforts and serves as the Subject Matter Expert to deliver complete, working systems according to project requirements and schedule.
Responsibilities
What you'll do:
- Apply expert knowledge of ESS system concepts of operations and the design-build lifecycle.
- Coordinate across project teams to achieve overall project objectives.
- Review customer requirements and assess design constraints to develop suitable designs.
- Participate in site surveys during all project phases for Electronic Security Systems (ESS) and physical security systems.
- Develop security system Engineering Installation Design Packages, including Block Diagrams, Riser Diagrams, Mounting, and Wiring Details in AutoCAD.
- Create project and device schedules with the Design Packages.
- Develop cable, device, and Performance Verification Test (PVT) plans.
- Participate in Pre-Installation Testing and Checkout (PITCO), including system programming and integration testing.
- Perform calculations related to power, heat, voltage drop, conduit sizing, and bandwidth.
- Assist in developing sequences of operations, compliance matrices, and other documentation.
- Apply knowledge of industry standards such as NEC, NFPA, UL Code, ICD 705, NISPOM.
- Participate in evaluating new technologies/products and making recommendations.
- Communicate project status and report issues promptly to management.
- Guide junior engineers through the project lifecycle to meet objectives and deliverables.
- Manage engineering changes and issues in coordination with project management.
- Attend and contribute to review and update meetings with internal teams and clients.
- Interface with stakeholders to address questions and present design solutions.
- Support bids and proposals to secure new work.

Qualifications
Security Clearance: ACTIVE TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance required. Applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria, including U.S. Citizenship.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline with 10+ years of experience, or
- 7+ years with a Master's degree.
- Preferred experience in ESS design-build.
- Experience in electronic security; Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification from ASIS is desirable.
- Experience leading large-scale design efforts.
- Knowledge of networking, routing, switching, LAN/WAN protocols, and firewall configurations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar tools, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of Pro Pricer and Eplan is a plus.
