Salary range: $90,000 - $110,000 depending on experience

Oxygen Systems US supports commercial, military and general aviation life support equipment. The Design Engineer will support gaseous, mask and chemical oxygen equipment.

The primary purpose of this position is to support product development activities to ensure that the desired design performance is achieved, meeting the applicable customer, regulatory, and company policies. The Design Engineer will ensure a successful transfer of newly developed product to production, while supporting design concept phases through launch. This is a team-oriented effort within the department and other parts of the organization for success.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Creates and revises designs (Interface, Detail, Assembly), with Designer; computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, and locations of features.
  2. Makes final decision on drawings, checking dimensions of parts, materials to be used, relation and interaction of one part to another, and relation of various parts of whole system or project.
  3. Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, plating, and other physical sciences to complete system design.
  4. Executes the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, and procedures.
  5. Utilizes prior mechanical design experience and applies on-the-job training to meet product deliverables within schedule & budget constraints and to solve tasks through technical skills and analytic thinking.
  6. Communicates with Manufacturing, Quality and Project Engineers, on changes, concerns and collaboration needs for the product.
  7. Generates development and qualification plans (verification and validation) and compliance methods based on customer and regulatory specifications.
  8. Prepares and presents technical data to internal and external customers.
  9. Shares engineering information and promotes open dialogue.
  10. Assures proper documentation of technical data generated and the communication of results for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Education -

Required - Bachelor degree (BS) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school - Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering.

Preferred – MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

Experience –

Required – 4-7 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in design engineering.

Preferred – Experience in gaseous products and safety equipment.

Special Knowledge/Skills –

Required -

  • Understanding of and experience with engineering testing methods.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience and proficiency with technical writing; strong communication skills.

Preferred -

  • Able to perform simulation using SolidWorks or Matlab Simulink and validate with performance testing.
  • Experience with RTCA DO-160 and/or MIL-STD-810G environmental test standards.
