Job summary

Allient Inc. in Tulsa, OK seeks a Design Engineer to support new customer applications, product launches, and manufacturing improvements through collaboration with sales, engineering, quality and manufacturing.

The role focuses on designing and releasing products that meet customer needs and manufacturing capabilities, with responsibilities ranging from data analysis to coordinating with production and customers to ensure project completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electrical.
• 5–10 years of work experience; knowledge of gear motors, electric motors and drives a plus.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Experience with mechanical motion systems and motion control systems preferred.
• Solid computer skills; familiarity with engineering design software (SolidWorks, MATLAB, Altium).

Responsibilities

• Manages and coordinates the design and release to production of products meeting customer needs.
• Analyzes and interprets engineering data for products and components, modifications, and changes.
• Confer with manufacturing engineering to provide assistance in methodizing product operations, tooling requirements, feasibility of manufacture or subcontracting, labor and material cost estimates.
• Develops and presents technical information to aid strategic planning initiatives.
• Recommends resources required to enhance product performance and resolve design/manufacturing issues.
• Plans and develops experimental test programs; analyzes data to determine if design meets specs.
• Collaborates with production and engineering staff to solve design/manufacturing issues.
• Communicates with engineering and customer personnel to coordinate interrelated design and ensure project completion

Allient Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a Design Engineer to join our team in Tulsa, Oklahoma!

The Design Engineer provides engineering support for new customer application development, new product launch, cost reductions and manufacturing improvements through collaboration with sales, engineering, quality and manufacturing personnel, suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities:

• Manages and coordinates the design and release to production of products, which meet customer needs and reflect current/future strategic manufacturing processes.
• Analyzes and interprets engineering data for products and components, modifications, and changes.
• Confer with manufacturing engineering to provide assistance in methodizing product operations, tooling requirements, feasibility of manufacture or subcontracting, labor and material cost estimates.
• Develops and presents technical information, which aids in strategic planning initiatives.
• Recommends resources required to enhance product performance and/or resolve design/manufacturing issues.
• Plans and develops experimental test programs. Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
• Works with members of production and engineering staff to solve problems associated with design and manufacturing of products.
• Communicates with the other engineering and customer personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electrical
• 5 - 10 years of work experience; knowledge of gear motors, electric motors and drives a plus
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Experience with mechanical motion system and motion control systems preferred.
• Solid computer skills include MS Office, engineering design software such as Solidworks, MatLab, Altium, etc
• Predominately office environment with occasional exposure to the production floor and development lab.
• While on the production floor, employee may be subjected to moving mechanical parts and may be required to put on precautionary, protective wear such as safety glasses.
• Some travel may be required.
• Mostly office-based but may some time standing and walking on the production floor or development lab.
