Job summary

Allient Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer to join our team in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The role focuses on engineering support for new customer applications, product launches, cost reductions, and manufacturing improvements through collaboration with sales, engineering, quality and manufacturing teams. You will coordinate design releases, analyze engineering data, and work with production to ensure manufacturability and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electrical.
• 5-10 years of work experience; knowledge of gear motors, electric motors and drives a plus.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Experience with mechanical motion system and motion control systems preferred.
• Solid computer skills include MS Office, engineering design software such as Solidworks, MatLab, Altium, etc.
• Predominately office environment with occasional exposure to the production floor and development lab.
• Some travel may be required.
• Mostly office-based but may some time standing and walking on the production floor or development lab.

Responsibilities

• Confer with manufacturing engineering to provide assistance in methodizing product operations, tooling requirements, feasibility of manufacture or subcontracting, labor and material cost estimates.
• Develops and presents technical information, which aids in strategic planning initiatives.
• Recommends resources required to enhance product performance and/or resolve design/manufacturing issues.
• Plans and develops experimental test programs. Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
• Works with members of production and engineering staff to solve problems associated with design and manufacturing of products.
• Communicates with the other engineering and customer personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion
