Job summary

Superpower is seeking a Design Engineer to shape interfaces that help members understand and manage their health. You’ll work with design and product engineers to turn complex health information into clear, intuitive experiences.

You will primarily work in React and TypeScript, owning details like typography, layout, motion, and performance across responsive layouts. This hands-on role blends design judgment with engineering depth.

Qualifications

• A portfolio of interfaces you have designed and built, demonstrating your personal contribution, technical decisions, and attention to detail.
• Strong experience with React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern frontend development practices.
• Excellent visual and interaction design judgment, including typography, hierarchy, spacing, and motion.
• The ability to explore ideas in Figma or code, explain your decisions, and work constructively through critique.
• Experience building production interfaces that handle real data, different screen sizes, accessibility needs, and edge cases.
• Demonstrated ability to own work independently from prototype through release, including testing and debugging code developed with AI tools.

The role

As a Design Engineer at Superpower, you will shape and build the interfaces through which members understand and manage their health. You will collaborate closely with designers and product engineers to turn complex health information into clear, intuitive experiences, taking ideas from early prototypes through production. This is a hands-on opportunity to combine design judgment with engineering depth and influence how our product looks, feels, and works.

You will work primarily in React and TypeScript, with ownership of the details that make an experience feel considered: typography, layout, motion, interaction, and performance.

Work Location & Environment

This is an in-person role based in San Francisco. You will work closely with product, design, clinical, and engineering teammates, with room to explore ideas and responsibility for carrying them through to a polished product.
