About the Role

Wenger Corporation is seeking a Design Engineer to contribute to our strategy by facilitating new product development, product improvement, and cost reduction projects through project leadership, evaluation of customer requirements, concept development, and product design.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural Engineering
• Three (3) years of progressive product or design engineering experience

Preferred:

• SolidWorks experience
• Proficiency with finite element analysis (FEA) software and stress calculations
• Ability to conceptualize, formulate design possibilities and coordinate development by the project team under time and financial constraints
• Commitment to effective project coordination, evaluation, and recommendations for improvements
• Music or theater background or interest

Responsibilities

• Assume key project role in developing detailed customer requirements and corresponding product functional requirements in collaboration with the Product Manager
• Provide effective leadership to multifunctional project teams to help accomplish project goals
• Stimulate development of ideas for new products, product improvements, and cost reductions
• Conduct engineering analysis including strength calculations, design layout, fits and tolerances, and CAD modeling as required
• Oversee accelerated product life cycle tests and evaluate field testing and potential misuse of products
• Provide complete, documented product and engineering specifications, working closely with cross‑functional teams
• Provide support for new manufacturing processes on products of responsibility
• Provide support for drafting and modelling by others in new product development
• Provide technical leadership for standard product customization efforts
• Prepare recommendations for product changes that will improve sales potential or reduce cost
• Provide technical writing support for manuals and instructions
• Coordinate and execute product development tasks with other departments, including design reviews, validation testing oversight, DFMEA, DFM, prototype development, accelerated product life cycle tests, design specification development, preproduction support, and field testing (beta sites)
