Position Overview

Our client is an established engineering and systems integration organization specializing in automation, power systems, industrial networking, SCADA, protection and control, and critical infrastructure projects. With decades of experience delivering complex technical solutions, they support customers across utility, industrial, manufacturing, and infrastructure environments.

The company fosters a collaborative culture that values technical excellence, professional development, continuous learning, and long-term career growth.

The Design Engineer plays a key role in developing and owning technical engineering solutions for a variety of automation, electrical, and power system projects.

This is an engineering-focused position responsible for creating system designs, defining technical requirements, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality engineering packages. While drafting resources may produce detailed drawings, the Design Engineer retains overall responsibility for the technical integrity, compliance, and accuracy of project deliverables.

The role requires strong engineering judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to work directly with customers, project teams, and manufacturing personnel throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design & Technical Leadership
  • Develop electrical, automation, SCADA, protection and control, and industrial networking solutions for a variety of projects.
  • Create system architectures, equipment layouts, and technical specifications based on project requirements.
  • Select appropriate hardware, control equipment, and communication technologies.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review customer specifications and translate functional requirements into practical engineering solutions.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and provide engineering recommendations.
  • Identify technical risks, design challenges, and potential scope gaps early in the project lifecycle.
Drawing Review & Design Oversight
  • Provide technical guidance and design direction to drafting and design support teams.
  • Review engineering drawings, schematics, and documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Verify that final deliverables align with approved engineering concepts and project objectives.
  • Support the development of junior engineers and designers through mentoring and technical coaching.
Project Delivery Support
  • Participate in project kick-offs, design review meetings, and project handovers.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to support schedules, deliverables, and engineering milestones.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing, integration, panel-build, and field teams.
  • Assist with testing, commissioning, inspections, and issue resolution as required.
  • Support engineering change management activities throughout project execution.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a technical representative during customer meetings and engineering discussions.
  • Clarify design requirements, project scope, and technical expectations.
  • Support proposal development and technical evaluations when needed.
