Job description

Position Summary

We are hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer to help design custom shell-and-tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and industrial equipment built for demanding applications.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an engineer who wants more than a CAD-only role. You will own projects from customer specifications and code calculations through drawings, fabrication support, testing, and final documentation. You will work directly with engineering, quality, machining, welding, purchasing, and production to make sure every design is practical, compliant, and ready to build.

If you enjoy solving real engineering problems, catching risks before they become costly, and seeing your work take shape on the shop floor, this is the kind of role where you can make a measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and detail ASME shell-and-tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and related custom-fabricated equipment.
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, data sheets, and technical requirements to develop practical, manufacturable solutions.
  • Perform and verify pressure-vessel calculations using COMPRESS, PV Elite, or similar software.
  • Create complete general-arrangement drawings, fabrication details, machining drawings, and bills of material.
  • Partner with quality, welding, machining, purchasing, and production to answer technical questions, issue revisions, and improve execution.
  • Support material traceability, inspection hold points, NDE, hydrotesting, and final documentation.
  • Identify design, material, fabrication, and schedule risks early so projects stay on track.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least three years of mechanical design experience involving ASME pressure vessels, shell-and-tube heat exchangers, or closely related process equipment.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Division 1, and the ability to apply code requirements to practical designs.
  • Experience creating accurate, fabrication-ready drawings and bills of material using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or comparable CAD software.
  • Experience performing or supporting pressure-vessel calculations through manual methods, COMPRESS, PV Elite, or similar tools.
  • A strong understanding of welding, machining, forming, assembly, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.

We offer competitive benefits, 401(k) matching, paid time off, professional-development opportunities, and the chance to build a career around custom engineering work that matters.
