Job summary

Workforce Solutions, LLC partners with a family-owned manufacturer to hire a Design Engineer for their Madison, WI site. You will take ideas from concept through production, turning designs into retail-ready products.

This full-time, on-site role covers the complete design lifecycle: concepting, modeling, documentation, BOMs, and production handoff, with collaboration across production teams and ongoing tooling improvements.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Blender or similar 3D modeling tools a plus.
• Able to produce clear technical drawings and BOMs.
• Self-starter who can manage projects independently.
• Strong organizational and file-management capabilities.
• Effective communication to explain technical concepts.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer needs into design concepts from sketches to detailed models.
• Create 3D models, technical drawings, and BOMs for production.
• Manage design projects including file organization, version control, and documentation.
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable.
• Support process improvements and adoption of new tools; contribute ideas to team workflows.

We are currently working with a family-owned manufacturing company seeking a Design Engineer for their Madison, WI location. This is an opportunity to work on real-world projects from concept through production, where your designs will directly translate into finished products seen in retail environments.

What's the role?

We are looking for a practical, creative designer who can take ideas from concept to production-ready execution with minimal oversight. This role offers ownership of the full design lifecycle-from initial concept through modeling, documentation, and production handoff.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys seeing their work come to life and thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Translate customer needs into design concepts, from initial sketches to detailed models
• Create 3D models, technical drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) for production
• Manage design projects including file organization, version control, and documentation
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable
• Support process improvements and adoption of new tools
• Contribute ideas to improve efficiency and team workflows

What experience and skills do I need to be successful?

• Proficiency in AutoCAD required; experience with Blender or other 3D modeling tools is a plus
• Ability to produce clear, accurate technical drawings and BOMs
• Self-starter who can manage projects independently
• Strong organizational and file management skills
• Solid communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts
• ERP system experience (such as Odoo) is a plus
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, design, or fabrication environment preferred

Recent technical graduates with strong portfolios are encouraged to apply, as well as candidates with hands‑on fabrication or shop experience.
