Job summary

Unknown utility company in Los Angeles, CA is seeking 3 Design Engineers: 2 intermediate and 1 senior, with on-site work in Downtown LA for the first two months, transitioning to full remote thereafter.

Requirements include P3D, Civil 3D, Aveva is a plus, and strong pipeline/transmission design experience. Senior designers will mentor juniors and coordinate across Civil, Structural, Electrical, and I&C.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop P3D models and production drawings for pipelines and transmission projects.
• Coordinate across Civil, Structural, Electrical, and I&C disciplines.
• Lead the development and QC of complex design packages.
• Mentor junior and intermediate designers as needed.
• Plan, prioritize, and oversee multiple projects concurrently.

Job description

A large utility company in Los Angeles, CA is looking to hire 3 Design Engineers, varying in skillset and experience. There will be 2 intermediate Design Engineers and 1 Senior Design Engineer. For the first two months of the role, these positions will require an on-site presence in Downtown LA, adn will transition to full remote after that two month period.

The minimum qualifications for all candidates should include:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D (P3D).
• Working knowledge of Civil 3D.
• Working knowledge of Aveva is a plus
• Experience with transmission and pipeline projects.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders on concurrent projects.

In addition to the minimum qualifications, Intermediate Designers should:

• Have 3 to 10 years of relevant design experience.
• Be capable of developing P3D models and production drawings with minimal supervision.
• Understand pipeline routing and construction drawing development.
• Be familiar with industry standards and drafting best practices.

In addition to the minimum qualifications, Senior Designers should:

• Have 10+ years of relevant pipeline and transmission design experience.
• Demonstrate advanced proficiency in P3D, Civil 3D, and drawing production workflows.
• Lead the development, review, and quality control of complex design packages.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate designers.
• Coordinate across multiple disciplines, including Civil, Structural, Electrical, and I&C.
• Identify project risks, resolve design conflicts, and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Have experience supporting all project phases, including IFR, IFC, construction support, and as-built deliverables.
• Be capable of planning, prioritizing, and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
