Job summary

Minuteman Group is seeking an experienced design engineer to develop concepts and layouts for mechanical, opto-mechanical, and structural systems. Candidates should be adept at GD&T, MIL-Specs, and manufacturability considerations, with hands-on solid modeling in SolidWorks.

The role requires strong self-direction and the ability to present technical results to diverse teams, both internal and external, while collaborating across disciplines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical/mechanisms, optical-mechanical, electrical packaging or structural design.
• Knowledge of mechanical fabrication and assembly techniques including conventional machining; additive manufacturing considered.
• Familiarity with ASME, GD&T, MIL-Specs and design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Develop concepts, design layouts and basic calculations to support the design.
• Present findings and results to internal and external organizations.

Job description

• Experience in one or more of the following areas –mechanical/mechanisms, optical-mechanical, electronic packaging or structural.
• Knowledge of mechanical fabrication and assembly techniques including conventional machining of metal. Additive manufacturing, not including molding, knowledge will also be considered.
• Opto-mechanics, structures, or electronic packaging design. Knowledgeable of design for manufacturability using conventional machining. Knowledgeable of ASME, GD&T and MIL-Specs required.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14 family of standards, and specific experience using ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Minimum 4 years of experience designing with SolidWorks. Candidates without SolidWorks experience will not be considered.
• Capable of developing own concepts, design layouts, and basic calculations to support their design.
• Candidates must be enthusiastic, innovative and motivated self-starters able to work independently, or with an interdisciplinary group, to achieve program requirements. They must possess strong oral and written communications skills, and must be able to present findings/results to internal and external organizations.
