Job summary

DISHER is seeking a Design Engineer in Kalamazoo, Michigan to lead civil engineering design on commercial, municipal, industrial, educational and residential projects. You will serve as the primary designer working with project managers to prepare plans, estimates, contracts, and specifications.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in civil engineering, a Michigan PE is preferred, and have 5+ years of related experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• Knowledge of civil engineering and surveying.
• Valid driver’s license.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D experience preferred.
• Michigan PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Civil engineering design of commercial, municipal, industrial, education and residential projects including studies, preliminary and final design, permitting, and construction oversight.
• Serve as primary designer on projects and work closely with project manager to assist with various aspects of projects, including preparation of preliminary and final cost estimates, construction plans, contract documents, material specifications.
• Meet regularly with Project Manager to discuss and resolve workload and technical issues.
• Review work in progress to anticipate technical problems
• Interpret statutes and regulations.
• Responsible for meeting project deadlines, as defined by Project Manager.
• Work collaboratively to meet project milestones.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field

PE license (Michigan) would be a plus

• Knowledge of municipal government practices and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D experience preferred.
• Strong work ethic.
