Job summary

Andgar Food Processing Equipment, LLC in Ferndale, WA seeks a Design Engineer to develop food processing equipment using CAD and SolidWorks. You will design, iterate, and document plans for onsite fabrication, collaborating with engineers and customers to meet specifications.

The role emphasizes welding experience (TIG preferred), strong math and communication skills, and the ability to lift and operate tools safely in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

  • One year or more of welding experience or a certificate from an accredited trade school or college.
  • TIG welding experience is strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug testing.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design and technical supervisor and customers to gather product and structural requirements and designs.
  • Research and evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Contribute to the designs of new products and improvements to existing products; work on moderately complex project aspects.
  • Transform rough product designs into working CAD documents.
  • Review engineering drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.

Andgar Food Processing Equipment (FPE) has an immediate opening for a Design Engineer in Ferndale, WA. This division works with a variety of metal products for food processing equipment manufacturing. Most of the final product is food-grade stainless steel and aluminum. The Design Engineer is responsible for assisting in design and development of food processing equipment using computer-aided design to render technical plans for onsite fabrication.

PLEASE NOTE: This role is located in Ferndale, Washington. This is NOT a remote position.

Specific duties include:
  • Collaborate with design and technical supervisor and customers to gather product and structural requirements and designs
  • Research and evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability
  • Contribute to the designs of new products and improvements to existing products; contribute to moderately complex aspects of a project
  • Transform complex rough product designs into working documents using computer aided design (CAD)
  • Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
  • Analyze test results and recommend appropriate design changes.
  • Design diagrams, maps and layouts to illustrate workflow
  • Use designs to develop specifications or estimates of materials needed for a project
  • Prepare creative designs or related drawings or details
  • Collaborate with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs
  • Transform initial rough product designs into working documents using computer aided design (CAD)
  • Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards
  • Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality
  • Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the manufacturing team
  • Design diagrams, maps and layouts to illustrate workflow
  • Create detailed designs with SolidWorks design software
  • Describe production methods step-by-step (including equipment and software types to be used)
  • Calculate dimensions, weight limitations and requirements in materials
Employee Requirements:
  • One (1) + year of experience or certificate in Welding from accredited trade school or college.
  • TIG welding experience strongly preferred
  • Valid Driver License and clean driving record
  • Drug and alcohol free (must be able to pass pre-employment drug test)
  • Strong communication and math skills
  • Able to operate tools, machinery, and vehicles safely
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Must be flexible with hours and able to work overtime as needed
  • Self-starter with ability to work with little supervision.
