Design Engineer
Apex Engineering Group, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer to contribute as a key project team member on water, municipal, and transportation engineering projects from planning through design and construction.

Responsibilities
- Provide professional civil engineering services including planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction observation, and project management.
- Communicate frequently with supervisors and project managers, offering updates and progress during all project phases.
- Attend company, project, and client meetings on a regular basis.
- Assist in preparing proposals and participating in interviews to secure work for the firm; business development responsibilities will increase with experience.
- Think independently and make rational judgment calls.
- Act as the project engineer and owner’s on-site representative during construction projects.
- Direct and collaborate with engineering technicians and other team members on development of project plans and specifications.
- Follow company CADD procedures.
- Adhere to the employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
- Perform duties conscientiously, legally, and ethically with strong attention to detail.
- Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.
- Travel and out‑of‑town stays required; overtime expected during construction season.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Professional Engineers License preferred; ability to obtain license within 6–12 months required.
- 5 or more years of experience as a Civil or Environmental Engineer.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, self‑motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Flexible working style willing to modify schedules to meet deadlines and client needs.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley Open Roads Designer, MicroStation Connect, Google SketchUP Pro, ArcGIS, or other CADD-based civil design software is a plus.
- Experience in stormwater collection system design, pump station design, sizing and selecting equipment, evaluating alternatives, performing calculations, preparing civil design drawings, specifications, and cost opinions is a plus.
- Experience in designing municipal/urban projects with underground utilities is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Physical Requirements
- Operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
- Work outdoors during construction season.
- May require prolonged periods of standing and walking for construction observation and surveying.
- Lift objects or containers weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Work scheduled and required hours.

Hourly Base Pay Range
40 - 55 USD (Actual base pay is dependent on several factors: experience, education, licensure, job location, and internal equity.)
