Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Valley, NE invites students to join our global manufacturing team for a summer internship in Drafting & Design. This role offers hands-on CAD experience aligned with real engineering projects.

You will create sketches, interpret specs, and collaborate with designers and engineers to produce shop drawings, learning how we move critical infrastructure forward. Paid internship with flexible summer schedule and potential for a full-time position after graduation.

Qualifications

• CAD skills and ability to convert drawings to 3D models.
• Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Strong communication, written and verbal, with good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Determine changes, corrections, and requirements to meet project needs.
• Create sketches for use by designers/drafters.
• Interpret specifications and standards to ensure customer requirements are met or improved.
• Communicate with customers to resolve specification questions before drawings are prepared.
• Collaborate with team members to develop shop drawings and provide project input.

What You’ll Do

• Determine changes, corrections, and requirements to meet project needs
• Create sketches for use by other designers/drafters
• Interpret specifications and standards to ensure customer requirements are met or improved

What We’re Looking For

• CAD skills, including design applications and the ability to convert drawings to 3D models
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

Preferred

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Drafting & Design
• Autodesk Inventor experience
