Job summary

Reframe Systems in Andover, MA is hiring a Design Automation Engineer to advance our CAD automation for a 10x-detail design workflow. You’ll write custom Onshape features with FeatureScript and the API, producing reliable tools that reduce manual workload for designers.

Work with the design engineering team to discover pain points, implement end-to-end features, and integrate CAD-to-fab processes from design to factory floor.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering, or computer science.
• 2+ years of hands-on parametric design experience in Onshape, Fusion, or SolidWorks.
• Experience building Onshape features with FeatureScript; proficiency in coding languages is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain custom Onshape features that run in production and hold up to daily use.
• Augment Onshape workflows by building tooling and integrating with external systems via Onshape APIs.
• Expanding the capabilities and uses (skills) of our modeling MCP built on top of Onshape APIs.
• Work with the design engineering team to develop high value features end to end: discover their pain points, design and implement solutions, integrate into their daily workflows, and iterate.
• Build automation that integrates MEP constraints and augments device and fixture placement.
• Build automated code‑compliance checking, e.g. outlet placement, egress, tempered windows requirements.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to raise efficiency and throughput across design and manufacturing.

What We're Looking For

Our mission hinges on being able to create building designs with 10x more detail than typical architectural sets in 1/10th the time. We're looking for a Design Automation Engineer to build the CAD automation for that workflow. You'll write custom features in and around Onshape (FeatureScript and API), and back them with real engineering practices, so the tools you ship run reliably in production and empower the design engineers by reducing manual workload. Your work sits downstream of architectural design and feeds our CAD-to-fab pipeline, all the way to the factory floor.

Qualifications

Prior knowledge or experience in architecture or construction is not required. We’ll get you up to speed.

Must Have

• BS in mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering, or computer science.
• 2+ years of hands‑on experience with parametric design (Onshape, Autodesk Fusion, SolidWorks, etc.).
• Experience building custom features in Onshape with FeatureScript.
• General coding experience, ideally in Go, Python, or C#.
• Experience using coding agents to build prototypes, work with others, and get to a solution quickly. A 0‑to‑1 builder.

Nice to Have

• Experience with the Onshape API or building integrations and apps beyond FeatureScript.
• General software engineering experience: automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring and alerting, debugging and root cause analysis.
• Experience in a manufacturing, DFMA, or a hardware product setting.
• Familiarity with CAD‑to‑fabrication workflows (CAM, CNC).
