Job summary

The Haskell Company, Jacksonville, FL, is seeking an entry‑level design professional to produce innovative, cost‑effective civil design drawings and specifications for assigned projects. You will coordinate with other disciplines and work toward eligibility to sit for a professional license exam.

Responsibilities include developing concepts, ensuring design compliance, and supporting construction observation under licensed professionals, while pursuing ongoing professional growth and expertise

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Architecture or Engineering; NCARB/ABET preferred.
  • Autodesk Civil 3D proficiency required.
  • Strong communication, accountability and commitment to professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Produce design concepts and drawings for hydrology, hydraulics, site utilities and erosion control.
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines and review design documents.
  • Check shop drawings and submittal data for conformance with contract documents.
  • Assist licensed professionals in construction observation and field reports.
  • Support project strategy meetings and maintain design schedules.

In this role, you will have entry level responsibility as a design professional, for the production of innovative, appropriate, cost-effective designs, drawings and specifications in your discipline for assigned projects. You will emerge into an independent resource and begin to coordinate work with other disciplines. Additionally, you will work to fulfill experience requirements for eligibility to take professional license exam.Job Responsibilities:

  • Application of Knowledge of Civil Engineering Applications (Conceptual Design)
    • Participates in project strategy meetings within discipline, develops design concepts, produces pricing and proposal presentation documents
    • Researches and is responsible for discipline design compliance with proposal/client criteria.
  • Design
    • Analysis Ability
    • Prepares design for hydrology, hydraulics, site utilities and erosion sediment control design approach.
  • Detailing
    • Ability to read and understand design documents.
  • Construction Document
    • Ability to read and understand specifications.
    • Coordinates work with other disciplines.
  • Construction Support
    • Subject to final approval of Licensed Professional, checks shop drawings and submittal data for conformance with contract documents.
    • Works with License Professional in construction observation to monitor compliance with design intent, construction drawings and observations. Prepares field reports.
    • Works with Licensed Professional with final project punch list observation and coordinates satisfactory response for substantial completion of civil site work elements.
  • Project Management
    • Partners with technical efforts of discipline Interns, designers, technicians assigned to the project
  • Profitability, Planning and Scheduling
    • Manage personal productivity to maintain a profitable margin while executing the basic services.
    • Meet civil design schedule to align with target dates for deliverables.
  • Professional Development
    • Identify continuing education opportunities to expand professional growth and advance the collective ability of the discipline.

Education & Years of Experience

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Engineering degree required. Degree from accredited curriculum (NCARB or ABET) preferred.

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
