Job summary

Kahala Brands, a globally recognized leader in quick-service restaurant franchising, seeks a Design Assistant/CAD Drafter to join the headquarters team in Scottsdale, AZ. This entry to mid-level role reports to the Director of Design and focuses on developing CAD drawings, brand prototypes, and design guides for a multi-brand portfolio.

Ideal candidates will have 3+ years of restaurant design experience, strong AutoCAD skills, and proficiency with MS Office and Smartsheet.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of restaurant design experience; college degree may substitute
• Educational/technical background in drafting, design or architecture is a plus
• Architectural building code knowledge is a plus
• Design and construction background is a plus
• Ability to review and interpret site information or as-built plans
• Experience with AutoCAD and PDF formats for plans is essential
• Knowledge of restaurant equipment and design is beneficial
• Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills
• Proficiency with MS Office applications and CAD tools
• Ability to collaborate with franchisees and design team

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain prototype CAD files for each brand
• Maintain equipment spec books for each brand
• Maintain design guides for each brand
• Create and maintain CAD block libraries for each brand
• Draft feasibility test fits for multi-brand spaces
• Assist with remodels, office updates and internal projects
• Collaborate with design and construction teams for alignment
• Standardize brand prototype filing system
• Assist managers with special project requests
• Create proposed space Test Fit and related plans
