Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Design Architect in the Advanced Facilities group to design state-of-the-art mission-critical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor and life sciences buildings in collaboration with our Pittsburgh team.

Responsibilities include leading a team of designers, coordinating across disciplines, and mentoring junior staff while applying building codes and Revit proficiency. A US architectural license and 3–7 years' experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
  • US Professional Architecture license.
  • 3–7 years of architecture experience.
  • Experience with building codes and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Revit.

Your impact

As a Design Architect working with the Advanced Facilities group, you will help us design state‑of‑the‑art mission critical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, life sciences buildings, and other advanced facilities powering our virtual world today and into the future. Working with our team in Pittsburgh, PA, you will have the opportunity to support business development and client engagement, as well as promote overall design quality. You will be part of a team performing conceptual, layout, and detailed design tasks, coordinating design and construction activities, studies, and various analyses. You’ll also have the chance to utilize your technical expertise mentoring junior team members.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision competently perform all conventional aspects of architectural design and analysis
    • Plan and conduct work requiring judgement and evaluation, selection and adaptation of architectural techniques and criteria
    • Exercise judgement and problem‑solving skills, reaching out to others for guidance or confirmation when questions arise.
  • Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and quality control
    • Committed to checking your own work, reaching out to peers and seniors for guidance when questions arise.
    • Perform checking of others’ work.
  • Be responsible for managing your own workload, making and keeping commitments, and taking ownership of your assigned work. Work in a timely, accurate, and cost‑effective manner with strong attention to detail.
  • Developing leadership and coaching skills
    • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and/or mentorship to designers/drafters and less experienced engineers.
    • Be proactive in advancing workflows, systems, and tools within the Architectural discipline
    • Embrace emerging technologies.
  • On an assigned project
    • Lead a team of designers responsible for an area of design in the development of layout, technical design, construction drawings, specification, and model creation.
    • Attend project meetings and take an active role to help team resolve concerns and solve problems across all disciplines.
    • Participate in and champion internal, cross‑discipline, and external project quality reviews.

Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited Architectural program
  • Professional Architecture license in the U.S
  • At least 3 to 7 years of architecture experience
  • Experience with building codes and specifications
  • Proficiency in Revit
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, and collaboration skills
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Registered Architect license.
  • Experience with SketchUp, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam Revu, and Navisworks
  • Experience in semiconductor, mission critical, life sciences, mission critical, bio pharma, life sciences buildings, or other advanced facilities
  • LEED accredited
  • Ability to travel

The base salary range for this position is $69,500.00 to $95,500.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
