Job summary

Ford is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to design, validate, and release cockpit and interior systems for Ford programs. You will monitor interior system development and ensure parts validation meets corporate and local requirements while coordinating with suppliers and assembly teams.

The role requires CAD proficiency (3DX/CATIA/Teamcenter) and strong CAE/Moldflow skills, with a focus on quality, cost, and weight optimizations. Must be legally eligible to work in the US.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive cockpit and trim applications
  • 3+ years of launch, root cause analysis for design/manufacturing issues, and quick implementation of corrective actions
  • 1 year of CAD experience
  • Experience with Design Tools (3DX/CATIA/Teamcenter/Digital Buck/GD&T/RSS Studies/DFMEA)
  • Proficient in Analytical Tools (CAE/Moldflow)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, validate, and release automotive systems, subsystems, and components for FSS/Build-To-Print Suppliers for assigned programs
  • Monitor the development of Interior Systems for Ford vehicles according to company-specific benchmarks
  • Design parts to comply with Corporate and Local requirements for parts validation, considering WCR, ES, SDS, and Manufacturing and Assembly requirements
  • Translate customer, regulatory, and product requirements into engineering targets
  • Monitor suppliers and analyze customer feedback through Ford's systems
  • Responsible for parts incorporation at the Assembly Plant
  • Support suppliers and assembly departments with current production quality and manufacturing issues
  • Identify design improvements to increase quality and optimize cost and weight

Job description

  • Proficient in the use of Analytical Tools (CAE/Moldflow)
  • Experience with Complex Systems, Injection Molding, and Secondary Tooling
  • Ability to compile data in the form of a decision matrix, report summary, etc. to be presented to Program and Interior Management Team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Team oriented
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
