Job summary

Bunge in Destrehan, LA is hiring a Plant Mechanic to maintain the grain elevator facility. Responsibilities include diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment in support of food safety and regulatory compliance.

The role offers Monday–Friday, 7a-3p with overtime. Eligible for benefits, including health plans, retirement contributions and paid vacation/holidays. Requires 3+ years of millwright/mechanic experience and TWIC or ability to obtain TWIC.

Qualifications

• Millwright/Mechanic experience with 3+ years preferred.
• TWIC card or ability to obtain TWIC card.
• High school diploma or GED; additional technical credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and part replacement of plant equipment.
• Welding and cutting using a torch: TIG, MIG, and stick on piping and structural.
• Rigging and using cables and slings.
• Sheet metal layouts.
• Assembly and installation of bearings on shafts.
• Alignment of motors and gearboxes.
• Parts lubrication and other maintenance tasks.
• Regular inspections of grain equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

A Day in the Life:

The Plant Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical maintenance of the grain elevator facility in Destrehan, LA, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and instruments. This role is responsible for demonstrating a commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site’s food safety management system and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.

Position Details:

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7a-3p with overtime

Hourly pay rate: $32.44
