Schimberg Co. in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a dependable Warehouse Worker to join our family-owned distribution team. You will learn the pipe, valve, and fitting handling, stock control, and order fulfillment while building a long-term career.

This full-time role offers a starting 7:00–8:00 AM shift, daily responsibilities across loading, unloading, and customer service, plus cross-training and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, PTO, and retirement.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Forklift experience is preferred.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety.
• Full-time availability Monday through Friday with start times 7:00–8:00 AM and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Receive and unload inbound materials safely by hand or using a forklift.
• Stock incoming inventory into proper warehouse storage locations accurately.
• Pull, stage, and prepare customer orders for daily shipping and delivery.
• Load and strap materials onto flatbed trailers for outbound deliveries.
• Assist walk-in commercial and industrial customers at the counter with a customer-focused approach.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean warehouse environment throughout daily operations.

Role Overview

Since 1918, Schimberg Co. has served as a premier, family-owned pipe, valve, and fitting supplier. With seven locations across the Midwest, we serve a diverse list of industrial and commercial customers. We are currently seeking a dependable, hardworking Warehouse Worker to join our growing team at our Des Moines location.

In this position, a warehouse worker will learn the ins and outs of the pipe, valve, and fitting distribution industry. We provide continuous cross-training opportunities so that every Warehouse Worker can build a stable, long-term, and rewarding career with us.

Responsibilities

• Material Handling: Receive and unload inbound materials safely by hand or using a forklift as a dedicated Warehouse Worker.
• Inventory Management: Stock incoming inventory into proper warehouse storage locations accurately.
• Order Fulfillment: Pull, stage, and prepare customer orders accurately for daily shipping and delivery.
• Trailer Loading: Load and securely strap materials onto flatbed trailers for outbound customer deliveries.
• Counter Customer Service: Assist walk-in commercial and industrial customers at our city counter with a customer-focused approach.
• Daily Operations: Maintain a safe, organized, and clean warehouse environment throughout daily operations as a core warehouse worker.

Requirements

• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally. Must be comfortable walking, standing, climbing ladders, and moving materials throughout the day.
• Forklift Skills: Prior forklift operation experience is preferred.
• Customer Service: Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Reliability: Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safe workplace practices.
• Schedule Availability: Full-time availability Monday through Friday, with starting shifts between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, plus overtime as needed.

Salary: $20 - $24 per hour

Warehouse workers are required to complete pre-employment drug screen as condition of hire.
