Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Medical Scribe to document physician encounters and manage medical charting in paper or electronic records. The role supports non-clinical admin tasks and assists with processing orders for tests and medications.

The position requires attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, and experience in a medical office setting. Primary work is in a standard office and patient care environment on site in Creve Coeur, MO.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree preferred as additional qualification.
• Medical Office Setting experience (3 years) is typical.
• No specific certification/professional license required.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills the primary administrative support and non-clinical functions of a busy physician by scribing medical data into a paper or electronic medical record system.
• Documents the events and decision-making accurately in a manner that results in appropriate medical charting.
• Scribes also complete clerical activities necessary to assist with processing of physician orders for tests and medications.
• Charts patient encounters accurately and timely, including history, exams, findings, lab results, consultations, discharge instructions and prescriptions.
