Job summary

Providence Swedish is seeking an MA II to ensure regulatory compliance in Mohs histology, perform tissue processing, and support surgical and laboratory operations. The role involves preparing specimens, maintaining records, and assisting with patient care under the Mohs surgeon and manager guidance.

The ideal candidate has formal medical assisting training, military medical training or equivalent, and ASCP BOC HT/HTL certification within 1 year. Washington GA licensure and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school with hands-on clinical training for medical assistants
• Completed two years of medical training in the United States Armed Forces or
• Minimum one year of work experience as a medical assistant with vital signs, injections, and medication administration
• Upon hire: Washington Medical Assistant Certification
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire
• 6 months Healthcare experience
• 6 months Medical Assistant experience
• Histotechnology training or equivalent
• ASCP BOC HT/HTL certification within 1 year of hire

Responsibilities

• Prepare solutions, stains, and tissue specimens; perform frozen sectioning
• Maintain slide quality control and manage labeling, storage, and retrieval of Mohs histology slides
• Complete data entry, surgery notes, and physician correspondence using Logician and photography software
• Maintain departmental logs, records, and inventory; monitor and order supplies
• Assist with sterile tray setup, autoclaving, wound checks, and post-operative follow-up
• Provide patient support in line with patient experience model; respond to emergencies as directed
