The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. Corporate Derivatives Underwriting (CDU) Associate will act as a primary underwriter on a broad range of derivative transactions, from initial engagement through credit approval, developing independent credit views and coordinating with Sales, Credit Risk, Legal, and Derivatives Documentation teams.

• High-judgment, high-ownership role at the intersection of markets, credit, and legal risk.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment in credit or risk-related roles
• Strong understanding of corporate finance
• Strong understanding of derivative products and/or financial risk management
• Comfort engaging with legal and documentation concepts
• Ability to manage senior stakeholders and communicate clearly under time pressure
• Interest in process design, problem-solving, and platform building, not just deal execution

Responsibilities

• The Associate will act as a primary underwriter on a broad range of transactions, taking ownership of the underwriting process from initial engagement through credit approval.
• Develop independent credit views, identifying key risks and mitigants, coordinating cross-functionally with Sales, Credit Risk, Legal and Derivative Documentation teams.
• Associates are expected to go beyond summarization, applying rigorous analytical judgment to assess credit quality, challenge assumptions, and articulate clear recommendations in underwriting memoranda.
• Associates should develop and maintain strong knowledge of derivative products, exposure profiles, and legal documentation (ISDA Master Agreements, schedules, CSAs, Guarantees, and Credit Agreements).
• Associates are expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of underwriting processes, templates, and training materials, and to mentor junior team members
