Job Description:

Purpose of the role

We are seeking a customer-focused and enthusiastic candidate for the Software Discovery and Packaging Team. The ideal applicant should have a genuine interest in solving IT issues, be empathetic to client needs, and possess a strong understanding of software application packaging. Good written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to collaborate with wider IT support teams are essential.

The Application Packaging Team manages the end-to-end delivery of applications and Operating System gold builds, along with the ongoing lifecycle management of these applications.

This critical on-site DV security cleared role involves application packaging and is an integral part of the project team. Responsibilities include escalation management, project work, C# coding, senior packaging tasks, SCCM administration, and license management, often serving as deputy to the team lead.

Key Responsibilities

• Experience with Application Lifecycle Management in enterprise desktop transformation projects
• Strong application packaging skills using Flexera AdminStudio, InstallShield, IS Recapture, and ORCA
• Expertise in MSI technology, including transforms
• Document package configurations and defect remediation
• Experience with large OS migration projects (preferably Windows 7 and Windows 10)
• Data analysis and reporting skills
• Effective communication skills, especially with business stakeholders
• Managing and maintaining SCCM 2012 or higher environments
• SCCM deployment and design experience
• Experience with Operating System Deployment tools like MDT
• Knowledge of SCCM/WSUS patching technologies
• Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory (2003-2016) and GPOs
• Support and troubleshooting of software deployment
• Contributing to desktop engineering standards and processes
• Delivering large-scale software deployments, e.g., Microsoft Office
• Highlighting process changes and maintaining documentation
• Adhering to contractual guidelines and identifying shadow IT practices
• Understanding customer priorities and support team concerns

Required Skills

• Basic project management knowledge and understanding of methodologies like Agile and Waterfall
• Experience packaging applications for Windows 7 and Windows 10 (e.g., Autodesk, MS Office)
• Support and troubleshooting skills at the third level
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Self-motivated with a proactive attitude
• Proficiency with MSI technology, application layering (VMware App Volumes), scripting (BAT, PowerShell, VB, C#)
• Ability to generate reports
• Knowledge of Change and Release Management processes
• Professional communication and organizational skills
• Confident presentation skills

Desirable Skills

• Experience with ServiceNow
• ITIL Foundation certification
