Job summary

The Riverside County Sheriff's Office seeks Correctional Deputy Trainees and Deputy Sheriff Trainees to engage in comprehensive academy training. Candidates will undertake various assessments, including physical agility tests and background checks, to ensure readiness for critical law enforcement roles within the community.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from high school, possession of a Certificate of Proficiency issued by the California State Board of Education, or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. examination.

License:Possession of a valid Driver’s License at the time of application.
Legality for Employment:Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.

AND
CORRECTIONAL DEPUTY TRAINEE
Age: Must be at least 18 years old by date of hire.

OR
DEPUTY SHERIFF TRAINEE
Age: Must be at least 20 years and 9 months old at the start of the academy.

  3. Physical Agility Test (PAT)
  4. Pre-Background Questionnaire
  5. Background Application via eSOPH
  6. Extensive Background Investigation, including interview
  7. Polygraph Examination
  8. Pre-Employment Psychological Assessment
  9. Medical Exam, including a pre-employment drug & alcohol screening (refusal to submit to testing or positive results for drugs, alcohol, or unexplained legal prescription drugs is an automatic disqualification).
Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of all the steps listed above. If offered employment, candidates will be referred to complete their academy training at the Ben Clark Training Center.
