Job summary

The Dane County Sheriff's Office is seeking qualified applicants to join our deputy sheriff team, delivering jail safety, crime prevention, and public service while upholding professional standards and community trust. Applicants must be US citizens, at least 21, with high school diploma or equivalent and two years of college or related work experience.

They must be able to work nights and weekends, be on call 24 hours, and meet the Wisconsin post-employment education standard; successful

Qualifications

• United States Citizen; 21 years of age minimum at appointment.
• Must meet State Law Enforcement Standards Board education requirements within 5 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Process persons booked into jail; maintain security of residents and monitor health and welfare.
• Inspect resident housing units; conduct hourly checks and search/inventory property.
• Assist nursing staff with medication; de-escalate conflicts and respond to emergencies.
• Enforce jail rules, serve as witness in court proceedings, and coordinate with patrol and other agencies.

Education
