Job summary

San Bernardino County's Sheriff's Office is recruiting Deputy Sheriffs to perform diverse law enforcement duties across correctional facilities, patrol, or investigations. Applicants may qualify as Deputy Sheriff Trainee, with an hourly rate during the academy, or as Deputy Sheriff - Lateral for those with CA POST certification.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Be a United States citizen.
• Pass San Bernardino County's safety, medical, psychological and polygraph examinations, including a drug test.
• Be fingerprinted and pass a background investigation. Candidates must not have been convicted of a felony.
• Have a valid California driver license.
• Be available for rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Participate in mandated in-service training.

Responsibilities

• Deputy Sheriffs perform a variety of law enforcement functions in correctional facilities, on patrol, or in crime investigations.
• Enforce laws, respond to incidents, and complete required training and certifications.
