Job summary

National Police in Elko County, NV, seeks a Deputy Sheriff. This is a journey-level post where you may work alone, with a partner, or as part of a unit.

You will process calls, prepare reports, and assist in investigations to identify, apprehend, and prosecute offenders, while maintaining equipment and testifying when required. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, Nevada POST Categories I–III, and a valid NV driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Nevada POST Category I/II/III security training.
• Must maintain a valid Nevada driver's license.
• Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and report standards.

Responsibilities

• Process business and emergency calls and prepares crime and miscellaneous reports on an as-needed basis.
• Maintain weapons and equipment in a functional, presentable condition.
• Conduct investigations and gather evidence to aid in identification, apprehension, and prosecution of offenders.
• Coordinate with prosecutors and testifies in court on police matters.
• Render first aid when qualified and assist emergency services.
• Remain alert to conditions that affect public safety and report to supervisors.
• Represent the department with dignity, integrity, and cooperation.
• Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and courts.
