Job summary

APTIM is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to support nuclear decontamination and decommissioning projects across the United States. You will manage work activities, develop project plans and baselines, and lead a multi-disciplined team to achieve contract SOW objectives, baselines, and schedules.

Travel and long-term assignments are required. Experience with EVMS, Primavera 6, and leading multi-discipline teams on complex nuclear projects is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Physical Science is required.
  • PMP Certification preferred.
  • Experience with EVMS, Primavera 6 or similar PM software is desired.
  • Experience leading multi-discipline teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Nuclear operations, engineering design, and D&D/remediation experience.
  • 10+ years PM supervisory experience on large nuclear projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a project organization across disciplines to execute the SOW.
  • Oversee and direct all aspects of project management (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, closeout).
  • Serve as primary client contact.
  • Ensure EVMS implementation, risk management, and planning.
  • Track progress against baselines and budgets, address variances.
  • Coordinate early work planning with operations/engineering for resource-loaded schedules and cost estimates.
  • Interface with operations and project planners/schedulers.
  • Supervise daily project personnel and ensure on-time, on-budget deliverables.
  • Establish and monitor safety and quality programs.
  • Plan and control projects per company policies and requirements.
  • Proactively resolve customer issues and prepare progress reports.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Developing and maintaining a project organization (resource identification, utilization, & allocation) encompassing all disciplines required to execute and deliver the contract SOW.
  • Oversee and direct all aspects of project management (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and project closeout) for the project
  • Lead interaction as primary point of contact with the client
  • Assure effective implementation of the Earned Value Management System, as well as risk management and planning
  • Track project progress against baseline schedules and budgets; resolve discrepancies and negative trends as early as feasible
  • Overall coordination of initial work planning/scoping working with operations and engineering to develop a resource loaded schedule and cost estimate
  • Primary interface with operations and project planners/schedulers
  • Supervises daily activities of project personnel including technical and administrative support and ensures that deliverables are produced on schedule and within budget.
  • Establishes and monitors project safety and quality programs.
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls projects in accordance with the established company policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.
  • Proactively resolve issues with the customer
  • Preparation of Financial Reports including Progress Reports (internal and client required)
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in relevant degree (Engineering, Physical Science)
  • PMP Certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of EM 385-1-1, USACE Safety and Health Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience using Earned Value Management Systems and using Primavera 6 or similar project management software is desired
  • Demonstrated experience in leading (supervising/managing) multi-discipline teams to achieve project objectives
  • Experience in nuclear operations, engineering design, and D&D/remediation
  • Experience at nuclear facilities and projects with a detailed working knowledge of key standards related to EVMS, baseline management, ES&H, QA/QC, Conduct of Operations, and Engineering/Construction.
  • Minimum of 10 years project management supervisory experience on large, complex nuclear projects involving radioactive waste environmental remediation and disposal.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $190K to $270K per year. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
