We are seeking a Deputy Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Project Manager to join our Environmental Sciences/Planning group based out of our Orlando, FL office. This position will support the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) General Engineering Consultant (GEC) Program, working as an “extension of staff” in the client’s office in Ocoee, FL (metro Orlando area). This position will provide career growth opportunities through support of FTE toll road infrastructure projects. If you have the desire to solve project development challenges on a variety of transportation infrastructure projects across Florida, this position is for you. The position will help with day-to-day activities fully embedded in the client’s offices delivering a portfolio of transportation projects. This role will exercise technical expertise and provide project assistance for the transportation-focused client in central and south Florida.

This position offers a work schedule of 5 days/week in-office.

How will you contribute to the team?

Deputy PD&E Project Manager / Program Manager Support:

  • Assists with FDOT, Project Development and Environment (PD&E) related tasks.
  • Performs occasional field work with technical staff to collect site-specific data as projects require.
  • Schedules and coordinates project meetings.
  • Establishes and maintains project files.
  • QC Important Correspondences – emails, memos, meeting notes – both external and internal.
  • Support Project Manager – shadows PMs on projects and provides support, takes notes, schedules meetings, handles submittals.
  • Support Consultant Program Manager – assists with completing special assignments including reports, presentations, and speaker keynotes.
  • Serve as Project Manager backup - when PM is out of office - meeting facilitation, etc.
  • Project Support – support on critical projects, major, or complex projects to assist in tracking specific important items. This would be a deeper involvement in the project details.
  • Assists in the preparation of graphic displays, presentation materials, development of reports, and concept and deliverable discussions with clients.
  • Assist Project Managers with public involvement activities.

Contracting Support:

  • Support TWO or stand-alone contract acquisition – put together the “final to PSU” package, QC the documents, and coordinate with PSU and work program team.
  • Process supplemental amendments and contract invoices.
  • Assist in preparation of graphic displays, presentations, reports.
  • Consultant evaluations – assist Senior PMs with consultant evaluations (staff request, tracking, etc.).

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required. Management coursework and/or MBA a plus. EI preferred.
  • Typical incumbent will have 5 years of experience.
  • General Engineering Consultant (GEC) experience is a plus.
  • Experience with toll facility/limited access projects is a plus.
  • Turnpike experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of NEPA process and procedures.
  • Knowledge of FDOT policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft personal computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Project; working knowledge of SharePoint and other project management/production support systems.
  • Good technical writing and communication skills, including the ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Ability to perform in a professional courteous manner.
  • Ability to process paper/electronic documents and utilize computer equipment.
