Job summary

Polaris Education - ISP Battle School in Battle, East Sussex, is seeking an inspirational Deputy Headteacher with QTS and SEND experience to lead safeguarding, behaviour and curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will champion a safeguarding culture, develop data-driven attendance management, and ensure high-quality teaching and inclusive learning for SEND pupils.

Qualifications

• QTS with SEND experience required.
• Experience delivering a high-quality curriculum for SEND.
• Experience leading and managing teams in a compassionate, therapeutic environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with staff, pupils and families.
• Proactive and adaptable with ability to establish systems aligned with the school's values.
• Previous senior or middle leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Champion safeguarding culture and lead safeguarding practice.
• Provide strategic leadership for behaviour and attendance using data to reduce persistent absence.
• Ensure high-quality teaching and learning with focus on inclusion for SEND.
• Assess and report on pupil learning needs, progress and achievements.
• Prepare pupils for external examinations.
• Contribute to school-wide strategy and curriculum development.
• Develop and evaluate school policies to support values and vision.
• Collaborate with staff and external partners to secure outcomes for pupils.
• Promote a therapeutic approach to behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
• Lead and support staff teams, fostering cooperation and continuous improvement.
• Work with Polaris Community leaders to align with ethos.
